What Element Are You?

My class consists of my homeroom teacher, Mr. Nakamura, my assistant homeroom teacher, Ms. Oi, and forty students.  Each person has his or her own character.  But they can be classified into three groups.
The first group, the noble gases, includes Aoi and me.  Those people are relatively quiet in class; they don’t react with other people.  Another group is called the halogens.  The students of this group emit loud lights such as blue, yellow and pink.  It means that they conduct the class.  The other group is the transition metals.  They are neither too noisy nor too quiet in class.
In short all the students react with each other like chemical reactions to heating or cooling.  We are getting on well.

Types of Students

There are three basic kinds of students in my class.  One very popular type is the chickens, who get up early and come to school before 7:30.  A second category is the dogs, who arrive at school between 7:30 and 8:00.  They are loyal to the rules.  A third category is the koalas.  They get up late; what is more, they don’t come to school until after 8:00.  They come to school just before the beginning of the lesson.  Not all students can be classified under one of these groups, of course, but most can.

Root of Fruit

Most of us in our class may be classified under one of these original categories by the way we spend recess in school.  The first category, the melons, is single; in other words, they act independently.  The second category, the cherries, spends their time getting along in pairs.  The third category, the grapes, spends their time merrily as a group.
I don’t always play in a group, but I’m attached the grapes when I have lunch.  On the other hand, I’m attached to the cherries during the brief recesses, especially when I talk with friends congenial to me.  However, to tell the truth, I believe that I may be a melon at heart.

Types of Classmates

When lunch break comes, students can be classified by how they spend it.  Every type has both advantages and faults.  One type goes outside and plays sports.  That is very active and good for the health.  However, this type includes the danger of being late to the next class or sleeping in classes because of fatigue.
Another type stays in the classroom and chats.  We can get satisfaction by talking with others about studies private troubles and hobbies.  Therefore, that type is very good for our mental health.  However, mistaking a suitable talking volume is nonsense because it hurts surrounding persons’ feelings.
The other type is studying even in a break time.  Needless to say, knowledge will progress, but in my person view, there is a break time for rest; therefore, they should take a rest.

Blood Types

All human beings are classified under four categories by blood type.  Of course our classmates also are classified in this way.  The first category has type A blood.  About half of Japanese belong to this group.  Generally those people are methodical.  In our class, ten out of thirty-eight are in this group.  The second category had type O blood and I belong to this division.  The second most numerous group is type O.  Many of them are sweeping.  Nine people in our class are in this group.  The third group has type B blood.  Peculiar people stand out in this group.  There are nine classmates among them.  The last category has type AB blood.  Popularly it is said that geniuses have type AB blood.  Our class has nine such people.  When we changed the seating, we decided on sitting by blood types.  Each group has many shared traits, so members of each group agree with each other.

Turtle, Rabbit or Sloth?

The students in my school have a morning study period, so we must be at school at eight o’clock.  However, because there are thirty-five students in my class, the time to come to school are very varied.  So, students in my class can be classified into three types.
One type, which includes many students, is the turtle type.  People in this type always arrive on time in no hurry.  They can start studying at eight.
Another type is the rabbit type, which includes people who arrive at school barely in time.  They run to school, so they can’t start studying smoothly.
The other type, which includes few people, is the sloth type.  People in this type come to school slowly, after eight, and they sometimes arriving during homeroom.  This is how students in my class can be classified by the time when they arrive at school.

Types of Classmates

There are three groups of students in my class which can be compared to animals.  One group is the dogs, which are clever, tame and friendly.  They are good-natured, so they can be in good with everyone.  Many students belong to this type.
A second category is the cats.  People included in this type are arbitrary, easygoing and independent.  It is difficult to understand them.
The other kind is the monkeys, which are eccentric, amusing and interesting.  A great many more boys than girls are included in this group.  This kind is a little rare.  Not all my classmates can be classified under one of these three groups, but most can.

Our Class

There are thirty-six students in our class, 3-3.  They may be classified under one of three categories using their favorite writing implements.  The first category, modern, includes people who often use mechanical pencils.  They prefer them because they are very useful.  Once they put a lead in them, they can use them for a while, keeping their lead sharp.
The second category, antique, includes people who tend to use pencils.  Students in this category are few, but most of them are particular about the writing sensation of pencils.  They use them because they can write smoothly and naturally with pencils.
The third category, neutral, includes people who often use pens.  They are fond of them because they can use them with a specific confidence (or fatalism) which comes from their feature of being unable to erase.  Once they write something by pen, they can’t undo it, so few people belong to this neutral category.  Our class is full of characters.

Aggressive or Passive?

We take a lot of classes every day.  Some students are tired from taking lessons.  Others hate them.  I’ll classify the students of 3-6 into three groups according to their aggressiveness toward daily classes.
The first group is active.  They regard classes as opportunities to expand their knowledge. They listen to many lectures, eagerly taking notes during them.  Whether such preparation affects their scholastic record or not, it is generally agreed that most of them are wise.
The second group is passive.  They vaguely hear many lectures.  They don’t join in the class.  They take spotty notes of the lecture.
The third group is quite passive.  Nearly all of them sleep in class.  They neither take part in the class nor think it is a very pressing deed.  They are popularly called problem children.
In this way we can be classified into three groups.  Human worth isn’t necessarily decided only on the point of one’s aggressiveness in classes, but the attitude of making a studious effort in order to try to learn gives a good impression to others.  Though, as we are entrance exam candidates, all of us must tackle all classes aggressively.

Brilliant Personality

People differ from each other, so I’m exposed to a lot of personalities in our class.  Our class members can be classified according to personality.  The first group is the sea.  The sea is quiet and keeps still.  Just like the sea, they are quiet but have a mind of their own.  The second group is the forest.   They always strive and improve themselves the way a tree looks for a place where the sun shines more.  The third group is the river.  It runs continuously and quickly.  They do things which they have decided to do right away.  Each member has her or his own good points.  I’m leading a full life being inspired by a lot of classmates.

Animals in My Class

Like a zoo, my classroom is filled with animals.  They can be classified into three kinds.  The first is the monkeys.  They are always struggling in the classroom, forgetting where they are or the occasion.  They will never be gentle.  The second is the crows.  They talk in a loud voice at all times without thinking anything of the trouble they cause others.  They should know better.  Third is the turtles.  They are very quiet and gentle, but they are moving toward their goals steadily.  As I have said, there are three kinds of animals, which makes my class unique and interesting.

Types of Sleepers

As I heard students talk about their sleep, I noticed that I could classify them into three types by their sleeping times.  One type is short sleepers.  They are busy studying and always stay up beyond midnight.  What’s more, they have to take the first train to go to school every morning.  Therefore, they sleep only three or four hours a day.  By the way, Napoleon and Edison belonged to the same class.  They are famous for their very short sleeping time.
Another type is long sleepers.  They have a lot of things to do, of course, but they don’t mind.  They often postpone assignments to sleep more.  They sleep over six hours every day.  Einstein was also a long sleeper.  It is said that he used to sleep ten hours on the average.
The other type is, so to speed, owl sleepers.  They must mistake day for night to take a nap during class.  It is natural that no great person should belong to this group.  As you see, students are classified under one of these three groups, but each group still has room for improvement.

Cheerful Animal Class

My classmates can be divided into three types according to their attitude in class.  One is monkey-type students.  They are often chatting, and sometimes dancing, during their classes.  They have little power of concentration.  Another is cat-type students.  They are often sleeping.  They always look drowsy or they are sleeping deeply in their class.  They seem to stay up late to study.  The other is dog-type students.  They are always studying hard.  They are very loyal and honest.  They never chatter, sleep or—least of all—dance in their classes.  Perhaps you can find more types of students in my class, but my class is beastly enough.

Yamasaki Kanako

Types of Classmates

We are all in the third grade; that is to say, we will take an entrance examination for a university this year.  Students can be classified by their attitude toward study.
One group is the tortoises.  They plug away at their studies all day.  Another group includes the students who study very hard though they seem not to study desperately in school.  This group may be compared with swans.  Swans seem to be elegant, but their legs word very hard in the water.  The other group can be said to be pandas.  They aren’t impatient about studying for the examination, and they study at their own pace.  I belong to this type.
Coming under a group is one thing, and studying efficiently is another.  It is exercising one’s ability in an entrance examination that is the most important.
